SB-105 and Coolpix S-510/Nikonos V

3 posts
  1. I have a Nikon Coolpix S-510 (small P&S) in a Fantasea housing. I really like the camera and would like to keep it a while.

I have also come across a Nikinos V and an SB-105. They both work and will be serviced soon.

Now, I know that the 105 can do slave with any camera, and that the Coolpix 510 can be set to forced flash, which has no pre-flash, and will work fine with the slave of the SB-105.

Here are my questions for anyone familiar with these setups:

    1. Can I use the Coolpix S-510 with the SB-105 and get good pictures? Is this strictly a manual affair?

1a. I heard about an adaptor (HeinrichsWeikamp) but I don't know if it will work for my camera. It seems that this could emulate TTL with the Coolpix S-510???

    2. How good a strobe is the 105 for macro?

    3. Is using the Nikonos V still an option? Good pics out of it still? It has a 35 mm lens, so I heard that it is a bad range.

Right now I have a small pixtreme digi-slave flash, and when I try to use it macro, the pics always come out burned, even though I set the EV to -2... Something I am doing wrong I guess.

Thanks for reading and thank you if you can contribute any guidance...

As I remember the 105 is not working well with the HeinrichsWeikamp since its not recharge fast enough, but better check with the producer.

    very good

Seems to e that not since have such more advantage but there are still divers that use the Nikonos

  3. I use the Nikonos 105 with the HeinrichsWeikamp TTL adapter with my Olympus C-8080 in an Olympus PT-023 housing. It works fine as long as you use the manual camera setting. It will fire but not sync if camera is in P mode (full auto mode for Olympus). I don't see your camera listed on the Heinrichs website (http://www.heinrichsweikamp.net/blitz/en/index.htm) but you should send an email and ask if you are interested. You should also check if the Fantasea housing will accept one of the bulkheads since this would make installation much simpler. I have found this company to be very responsive and helpful to my inquiries.
