I have a DSLR housing (Nikon D70) with a Inon Z-240 connected by nikonos 5-pin. My problem is how to connect a Inon D2000 with a optic connection to Z-240. Somebody has a similar configuration ? Can you post some pictures to understand how to construct the adaptor piece?
thanks for all,
Oriol
Hi Oriol,
I don't have that exact setup, but do use fibre for firing the Z-240s from a Nexus housing. To fire the D2000 from the Z-240 should be fairly easy. First is having a way to attach one end to the light sensor on the D2000 which is easily made from a spare sensor cover and audio fibre cable (see http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23789). On the Z-240 if you use the diffuser I suspect just a bit of tape holding a bare end on it might well work as an interim measure, while a more professional approach would be a screw into one of the diffuser fixing hold and a small saddle.

Yep, that's a good idea. You won't be able to use the camera's internal flash to fire the D2000 unless you can pop the flash up all the way in your housing.
Best regards,
James
I had an Inon widget that held the fibre-optic cable in front of the "controlling" strobe. The difficulty was that for W/A you had to have a very long fibre-optic cable, and it was sometimes easier just to leave the cap off the slave sensor, and trust to reflected light from the primary strobe.

There is a potential problem with TTL in that the D-2000 may not accomodate a D-SLR's pre-flash protocol in the way that a Z-240 does, but if you are using electronic cable to your primary that won't matter, as you don't have pre-flash or TTL to worry about. Inon's manuals are incredibly obscure and confusing about matching strobes to camera systems, as all proud Inon owners acknowledge (proud, because we have managed to get our strobes to work!).
