Interesting how folks see things differently; I see what you mean though that the subject does not stand out as separate from the background, but I still like the the textures in greyscale, so works for me.
One thing that will really improve the images, particularly the first image, is tilting the images so that the horizon is horizontal. Folks often miss this, but when they rotate the horizon to horizontal as it should be, you will always see an immediate improvement.
Very true. it was obvious that the horizon line was slighlty skew wiff, well to me anyway. I do not consider myself in a position to be too critical of other peoples shots when mine look the way they do.....
I would imagine that if Alex was to come and look at some new buildings with me, we would probably say " yea, they look good ". Where as myself being a manager of construction sites, whould probably turn around and be able to reply " well Alex thats not quite true, the brickwork isnt very good, the windows havent been sealed properly, bla bla bla "
Thats why i am sitting in a site office on a building site in London, and Alex is jetting off around the world, capturing great images.
forgetting the skew wiff horizon, which can be easily rectified in PS i do still like the first image. but hey i am a site manager so dont listen to me !!!!!!!
