I've been using an older model ewa-marine bag made for film cameras and I finally got around to upgrading to the ewa-marine U-bX100. I just got it in the mail today and I was inspecting it and I noticed the valve for inflating it. The older models didn't have this and to be honest the presence of that thing is really worrying to me. If it gets flipped open underwater accidentally is my camera hosed? The other thing that seems to concern me is that blowing in a whole lot of hot moist air from my lungs can't help the condensation issues inside. Anyone have any insight into these issues. First post here. Thanks in advance. (Aloha from Hawaii)

Yes I bought one of these Ewa bags, the U-AXP 100, I never had a problem with the valve. So long as it's fully pushed in, it shouldn't come loose. The valve also requires a small pinch or squeeze to blow up or release air. With air inside, it's basically a balloon, if the valve should accidently open, the air would have to be pushed out first, before water will enter. Yes blowing in warm moist air would cause condensation, Ewa supplies silica bags to control moisture. I never used the bag below 8ft. I usually had to suck air out of the bag as it can be difficult to use with too much air in it. I bought the bag to introduce myself to underwater photography and although the Ewa bag works, it is not for serious photography. I plan to upgrade to a real housing soon.

I would not trust my camera to a ziplock baggie - valve or no valve!
