Mixed Colour temperatures

  1. Hi!

I've got a subtronic strobe with colour temperature of 4600K, and I have the opportunity

to buy a sea & sea YS-250 strobe with colour temperture of 5600K, does anyone have the experience

of using two strobes with different colour temeratures for wideangle?, good/bad?

    /Daniel

  2. I have shot mixed Inon/Subtronic and they look fine. Most people would never notice anything.

  3. I have read your (very good)articles about green and blue background water

depending if one use warm or cold strobes.

what is your opinion, using two strobes with different colour temp.

    regarding the background colour?

  4. Hi Daniel,

If you mix the strobes you end up somewhere in the middle. If they are producing the same power - then exactly in the middle.

You could always add filters to the Sea and Sea to match it to the Subtronic. Also be aware that newer Subtronics are not as warm as their older models.

  5. I used an Ikelite DS50 (5700K) with an Ikelite DS125 (4800K) for around a year without any major issues. The differences weren't noticeable in either the foreground or background.
