I just switched from film to digital and am a “rookie” to this topic when it comes to interface between housing and strobes. I have kept some Ike strobes in spare. Can I use these strobes with a digital SLR (Nikon D300 in S&S MDX housing) when shooting with them in manual mode? The strobes are SS-50, SS-100 and DS125 w/slave sensor.

Yes, It should be no problem but you need to remove pins on the hotshoe cable in the housing
so that you only use trigger and ground. If you do this then you can only shoot manual.

If you're going to drop that kind of coin may as well buy you another DS125 to go with the first and have a completely digital system.Nikon D300 in S&S MDX housing -
Better than doing "surgery" to the pins just use tape in the hot shoe:

This way you can always go back to iTTL in the future like buying an Ikelite iTTL Adapter for Nikon digital SLR cameras (check your DS125 to see if you can use it in iTTL with this adapter):

To check if your DS125 is "iTTL ready":

I agree, the SS50 will only give you one power setting - full. And the SS100 will only give you two power settings.
