Hi,
Nikon introduced SB900 to replace SB800 ( Thom Hogan says it is officially discontinued)
and it has more power & wide coverage for fx cameras such as d700/d3.
I got one last week & tested on d300 and d700 and finding it automatically detect which
camera I am using as well as which lens, what f-stop and most importantly, covers latest
i-ttl (I do not know what difference there but, am hearing there is difference).
I have an old Subal SB-800 housing( has only on/off switch) that I am not using and try
to put SB900 into it. it takes SB900 but, housing was too short. this housing is made by 3 pieces,
front cover, middle piece & back cover and I am in process of making new middle piece which
is simply a tube(I am not even considering to have on/off switch).
I will post pictures when I am done but, have no plan to produce it for other members.
Sam
Hi Sam,
That old Subal housing would be perfect for what I am looking for.
I want a housing that just turns on and off with the rest left up to i-TTL via fibre-optics from the camera's in built flash.
I think that I have told you before that I have converted my Nexus D70S housing and mounted the Inon fibre Optic ports
and it works like a dream. My intention is to run two of the SB800s in the Subal housings because they are about the best that I can find
for the job that I want to do.
There have been some of the Subal SB800 housings for sale here in the classifieds and fair dinkum, I reckon the owners think
that they are holding onto winning lottery tickets. The prices asked in some cases are more expensive than quoted new at some of
the more 'friendly' stores.
I will be very interested in seeing how you go, so yes please, keep the pics coming...
Bruce...
