The Orton Effect is all the rage lately on some of the landscape forums I participate in so I thought I would try it on some of my UW shots. Basically the technique is to create a couple of duplicate layers in PS, apply a Gausian blur to one of the layers and change the blending modes. Just Google "Orton Effect" and you will find quite a few step-by-step tutorials on how to do it.
I didn't like the result on most of the shots I tried but I kind of like this one. I did a little masking on the fish to lessen the effect locally.
This is a topside image where I applied it lightly (reduced opacity)

Interesting effect Ralph; from what I read the object is to create a 'diffuse glow' is that correct? Can you post the originals for comparison?
