  1. I am a photographer for the Sacramento Bee newspaper in northern California. Recently I started doing underwater photography, and the paper has published several of them in an on-line gallery, I would love for everyone to see them and of course I welcome all of your sincere criticism. Thanks for looking. The page loads on the second photo, so be sure to scroll to the top of the page to see them all. Here is the link: http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/photo...16516.html#more

  2. Welcome! If you've just started, you are doing great stuff!

I especially like the Manta shot. It captures a real underwater photography "moment" and REALLY makes me want to get back in the water ...

What kind of gear are you using?

  3. Thanks for the kind compliment! The manta shot is my favorite as well. It has a strange quality about it that I like, although I'm not sure what it is exactly. Perhaps that the diver is standing upright. Anyway, to answer your question about my gear, I have been using a Nikon D100 in a Light&Motion Titan housing. I have a Nikon 12-24mm w/Sea&Sea Fisheye dome port, and a Nikon 60mm macro w/Sea&Sea custom flat port, and two Inon Z-240 strobes. I just bought a D700, and will be buying a housing for it when they become available in the coming months. It's funny; I've been a diver for 36 years, and a photographer for just as long, but it has only been since last year that I finally put the two together. Now I am so obsessed with it that I may have to sell off my home :bottled: It should have been obvious: The cost of diving, multiplied by the cost of photography, equals a down payment on UW photography!

Welcome to the Asylum Randall. :bottled:

I too think the manta image is special. Congrats on a great start!

    Cheers,

    Steve
