Pelican Case vs. Igloo???

1 posts
  1. I am about to accquire a Gates housing for my PMW-EX1 Hi def camera and it's time to buy a new transport case. I am really torn over what to do. I have a great collection of Pelican cases and really like them for their strength, padded dividers, positive latches, built-in wheels, and pre-installed padlock protectors. I also recognize the down side of the Pelican case (and cases like it) including weight, identification as an object carrying expensive gear, etc.

On the other hand, a great number of friends of mine have always used and sworn by Igloo cases. They like them for their light weight, anonymity, low cost, etc.

Does anyone have particularly strong feelings one way or the other regarding a decision? I know that if I get an Igloo case I will have to add eyes for straps, hasps for locks, and probably also have to carry a good cart for wheeling gear. I also question the TSAs ability to refasten the straps I feel I need to add to an Igloo.

Your experiences and comments would be helpful. Thank you!
