Olympus claim that the PT-010 can go to a max depth of 30 m. Has anyone tried deeper or equivalent to that depth???

max depth for Olympus PT-010

I have been to 40m with no ill effects.
There is some creaking of the housing but this can actually occur at any depth and I have read that this is harmless.
I would definitely recommend flood insurance if going deeper than 40m. Actually if diving at all !

I have been several times to 48 metres with my PT-005 which is similar to PT-010, without problems.

Hi Honza,
Several dives with 40+ meters were no problem.
To be on the safe side i'd try it with an empty housing the first time you go deeper.
Mark mentioned those strange cracking sounds that are supposed to be harmless.
The favorite "cracking depth" of my PT-010 is around 15 meters, the first time i nearly stopped the dive and spent 5 minutes looking for "the crack". Funny thing is, it never "cracks" deeper than 30 meters.

I guess, this is the same effect as with equalizing, or establishing neutral bouyancy with your BCD. The first 10m are the most important - where the action takes place.Originally posted by snoackFunny thing is, it never "cracks" deeper than 30 meters.

Because here the pressure relatively doubles from 1.0 bar to 2.0 bar. If you go then from 10m to 20m - assuming you will do it with the same descending speed, the pressure will increase only by the factor 1.5 instead of 2.0 for the same distance of 10m travel. Anyway, with a solid aluminum housing I was not forced to listen to that kind of music yet. regardz, andi

If those cracking sounds are realy related to descending speed and increasing preasure, they should appear between the surface and 10 m, especially when you're trying to go downfast.
Strange thing is: This time it didn't crack at all and i spent lots of time around 15 m.
BTW: The new depth record of my PT-010 is now 47 m

Maybe it finally became flexible

Been d ving 3 times a day for the past fortnight, 40M without a problem (touch wood!!)
No cracking or creaking noises to report either.
Would take it deeper but 2 days sailing away from nearest airport and thats if a boat is available - don't fancy getting bent.

Hi,
those PT-housings are excellent - one my last years buddies used it up to 40-50m.
