  1. When viewing raw files taken with my cannon G9 using photoshop elements 6, where i have set the white balance manually the images appear blue, when i play with the photo's the colour is never quite right, when the images are viewed with the software that came with the camera the images appear correct is there something im doing wrong with elements, how can i correct this?

Elements uses "Adobe Camera Raw" (ACR) as a RAW converter, I believe. There is an ongoing, raging debate on every photographic website about the differences in RAW Converters. Most people are happy with ACR (or don't notice the difference) or are using the Canon software as a RAW converter, convert to TIFF and then import the TIFFs into Photoshop.

I use lightroom2.1, but got the idea from PS folks. I build up the reds, and strip down the greens and blues. Works pretty good. :) Here's an example of this teqnique....This was more "Green" but it works the same with blues. I hope this is what your meaning, I might have misunderstood your OP...sorry :D
