Wakatobi - October 08

  1. I can't believe it's been nearly a month since we left Wakatobi and I still haven't finished going through our pictures. I've probably spent too much time playing with my new 50D which arrived just after I got back. Here's the gallery as it stands at the moment:

If you want to see the pictures a little bigger or get some information, just click on the image of interest and you'll be taken to our Smugmug gallery where the images are actually hosted.

  2. That is a fantastic set of photos! Really impressive.

  3. Really nice pictures.

If Anemone fishes were bigger no one would dare to get in the water, see pic 23 :)

  4. thanks so much!!! we were there about a month ago also. Truly an amazing trip. Your pics took me right back there. thanks

  5. Wow. How did you get the pygmies to look into the camera? Very impressive. Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean about tons of photos to go through. If I didn't have the pressure of my camera club's competitions, I would still be procrastinating about processing. As it is, I still have some in my camera from a month ago that I haven't uploaded yet. :)

  6. Wow Ross, I feel like I should have paid something to watch that. Very nice. BTW, you can tell Mary that it was hard to tell whose photos were whose...a high compliment indeed.

  7. Wow! That was one excellent slideshow. I was there last month also and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent diving that Wakatobi has to offer. When I looked at a few of your anemone fish images, I immediately thought "What's my image doing in his slideshow!" :) A few of mine were quite similar to yours. Yours were a lot better, though!

    Thanks for posting.

  8. Spectacular images. Your shots give the fish personality. The anthia is magnificent. I think I photgraphed that puffer as well last week. From the amount of stuff from Wakatobi in the last month it seems like 1/2 the people there were Wetpixel members.

  9. Wow. Love it Love it

Never seen a puffer that color, truly inspiring work.

    Cheers

  11. Ive just spent the last 10 minutes enjoying the slide show. Beautiful images.

  12. Thanks everyone. Some of the praise should go to my wife Mary who took a lot of the shots in the slideshow (eg the pufferfish mentioned by dive doc and danielstassen).

I knew a lot of Wetpixel members were going to Wakatobi in October and was hoping to meet them. However, it seems that they were either on the trips before or after mine.

  13. Beautiful work Ross, very enjoyable to watch.

Your fish and buddies must cooperate more than mine do in the composition.

  14. Brilliant images from both you and Mary.

I think it must be the beard that makes all the fish look at you that way, they've probably never seen the like!

    Cheers,

    Jim.
