I use a Nikon D70S topside- but for below- I want something very compact and easy to carry. Most of my diving is 60' or less, though, occassionally to 100'. Can I get decent photos with this, and will I need an external strobe? I saw some decent pics with this camera on Flickr by "Wagnbat", but don't know what depths he was at, etc. I really would appreciate your input. Many of the photographers in my dive club use very cumbersome setups, and are so focussed that they miss the eagle ray, while arranging the shoot of the blenny. Thank you in advance.

I am not familiar with the W300, but I have been using a W80 with the marine pack for about a year (see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/smsphoto/sets/). I originally bought it to use while conducting turtle surveys via snorkel, but eventually started taking it on shallow shore dives. Below about 20-25' an external strobe is necessary, but I've been able to get by with color correction in Photoshop for the shallower dives. I have taken it on dives to 60-70', but I don't have an external strobe so the image quality suffers.
It's compact enough that I just clip the camera and housing to my BC so it is readily available when I want to take a photo.
I'm content with the W80 so I can't imagine how you could go wrong with the W300.
