Springtime Means Gardening!

  1. Hi Folks,

just some Weedy Seadragon shots to make all you folks who don't live and dive in Southern Australia jealous!

The boys are carrying their first clutch of eggs for the season (sometimes they'll have two in a season) and I

duly went down to get some images. If they weren't such beautiful creatures I might get complacent with them

because they grow like........ well Weeds down here at some locations.

I had the opportunity to show a visiting marine biologist from Spain the Weedies and it was worth it

just to see the look on her face. Her response to seeing them a reminder to me just how special it was

    to see my first Weedy.

Here's Marta getting some images to treasure and make her friends at home jealous.

    Hope you enjoyed them!

    Cheers,

    Jim.

  4. Very nice. I wanna see more Weedies. I have photographed them in Sydney, but would like to meet them in nicer conditions.

  5. They are certainly on my top list as well.

I really wish that I would get to see them in their habitat. So far only at the Singapore Aquarium.

  6. Brings back memories of last December when I saw my first weedy. Didn't get any photos though because I had flooded by camera. But my buddy took photos that I treasure. I was surprised by how big they were.

They get even bigger down in Tasmania and get too 45cm long!

  8. Nice ones Jim - Next time you have a Spanish marine biologist come to visit let me know because necesito practicar mi español! Soy estudiante de español.

Perhaps we can get to Flinders some time in the next few weeks to find that elusive leafy seadragon.

  9. If I had known you were a student of spanish I certainly would have been in touch. Hopefully her

partner Marc Sentis, who had planned to be here too but couldn't make it this time, will get the

chance to visit in the future and see the Seadragons for himself too.

Very keen to get back for some more dives at Flinders once rain and wind calms down.

    Cheers,

    Jim :)
