Whitetip Reef Shark

6 posts
  1. This is my first post. The shot is of a small whitetip reef shark that I often see on the inside of the reef at Hanauma Bay, where I volunteer on the weekends. I was using an Olympus 4040 in a PT-010 housing with the built-in flash. Hammer away!

  2. Welcome to Wetpixel, John!

That's a really nice shot, especially with a built-in strobe. The only thing that I would recommend is to increast the contrast a bit. I did this and also darkened the light area near the bottom of the photo. I only spent a minute or so, so it's not as clean as it could be, but it gives you the idea.

    Again, a very nice shot!

  3. Wow, great adjustment!

    Very nice shot.

  4. There you go. That looks nicer. I would probably settle for a little less darkening, though. But that's exactly what it needed. Thanks!

  5. Very nice picture!

    Especially after the processing.

    Where is Hanauma Bay?

  6. Hanauma Bay is on Oahu Island(Hawaii). It just got named the #8 beach in the US by Dr. Beach. It is located on the SE edge of Oahu in the Hawaii Kai area. HB underwent a huge renovation project and now looks awesome.

In terms of U/W photography on Oahu, it's one of the best places, depending on the day and the wind.
