I have much to learn, but reasonably happy with this one....comments welcome.

I can see why you are happy. Nice shot!
I wonder if you could have framed it a bit further right, to get rid of the negative space on the left, put the shrimp off center, and allow us to see more of the nudis? Just a thought.
Hmmm, I think you are right. It would indeed be better.
I guess at the time I was so new to underwater photography I was just pleased to get it all in the frame and sharp!
With your 40D do you just use the centre focus point and recompose or do you use the peripheral focus points for off centre framing? Or even let the camera decide?
Trouble with the recompose method is that it is very easy to move a little as you move the camera, and therefore you tend to loose focus...
I like it!
But...
... what about framing it in a different way if you get a similar situation: the subject, the shrimp, diagonally and the nudibranchs forming an abstract background oriented more vertically?
As it is, the shrimp is constrained by the frame of the image, and my eye, at least, flows along the nudibranchs and away from the shrimp. A photograph of the nudibranchs would throw the shrimp out of focus, and I think that it would be much more difficult to make it work unless you can get a terrific depth of field.
