Sea & Sea 40D

1 posts
  1. Hi,

I've recently placed an order for a Sea & Sea MDX40 housing for my Canon 40D (after 5 years of using an Oly5050). I decided to go with the Sea & Sea based on what I read in this forum and elsewhere.

    My question is:

Given that I ordered the NX-90 Standard Flat Port (not compact), would the port take the standard lense(35-135mm) my 40D came with or not? I will be buying either a Canon 50mm/60mm or Sigma 50mm EX DG lense pretty soon(for a start), but was wondering if anyone used the 35-135mm underwater? I know Ikelite does not make a port for it (diameter too wide) which makes me think probably no port can accomodate that wide of a lense?. My objective is to start with taking macros since I only have 1 strobe (Inon D-2000W). I also have ordered a 5 pin Nikonos/Sea & Sea sync cord, since the strobe has such a connection.

I'm new to DSLR's but not new to taking pics underwater, so any ideas on this setup would greatly be appreciated.
