  1. Dive & Photo Expedition to Belize Jan 17th - 24th 2009

    Greetings!

Get away from the winter blues and do something to help save the oceans!

    BELIZE SNORKELING & SCUBA DIVING

Join world-renowned marine scientist Dr. Sylvia Earle on an expedition to Blackbird Caye, Turneffe Atoll, Belize, to enjoy daily scuba diving, guided snorkeling and informative evening presentations on what individuals can do to help protect the oceans. Scuba divers will dive the renowned dive sites at Turneffe such as the Elbow, while snorkelers will visit specially selected snorkel sites offering views of coral reef life in shallow, protected waters. A trip highlight will be a day-trip to Lighthouse Reef Atoll including exploration of the Blue Hole made famous by a Jacques Cousteau documentary on its unique stalagmites.

Dr. Earle is the President of Deep Search International and Explorer-In-Residence at the National Geographic Society. Dr. Earle has led more than 60 expeditions worldwide involving in excess of 7000 hours underwater in connection with her research. In 1998 she was named Time magazine's first "Hero for the Planet" in recognition of her pioneering work as an oceanographer.

Also joining the expedition is Kip Evans, a professional photographer who has worked on a number of National Geographic Society projects including the Sustainable Seas Expeditions with Dr. Earle. For interested expedition members, Kip Evans will provide daily hands-on instruction in photography.

This expedition is led by the Oceanic Society which was established in 1969 as a non-profit conservation organization. Oceanic Society's primary mission is to protect endangered wildlife and preserve threatened marine habitats worldwide.
