Yikes!! Great White Breaks Into Cage

  1. Pretty dramatic footage, I hope it is not used to further restrict cage diving in Guadalupe.

  2. Guess that guy had to wash out his wetsuit! It appears that no one was hurt, and hopefully neither was the shark.

If he was on the Solmar he probably said: "Geronimo I asked you to bring the guy in close for a photograph, but that was ridiculous'

From what I understand they are not allowing chumming / baiting anymore anyway in Guadelupe.

  3. Reminds me of a certain Gary Larson cartoon I saw once

  4. Holy #$%#

  5. Ahh come on, the little guy just wanted to give them a kiss for providing the nice snack.

The good news is that the cage simply happened to be in the way for where the big guy was going. If he was planning to give any kisses or hickies to anyone I think things would have been a little more messy.

  7. You were on that trip Jeff?

No, I was on the Solmar in August, the week before they stopped the wrangling and chumming at Guadelupe. This boat has 'seas' or something in it's name. The shark seems to be swimming almost blind once he hits the bait. The eyes are covered etc. Pretty clear he was not planning to get into the cage don't you think?

  9. Ouch... makes You reconsider cagediving :)

But it really seems that the shark is still eating / chewing (eyes shut) when swimming it'self stuck into the cage upper part. Then he panics and forces himself into the cage..?

Saddly they are not the best backward swimmers :P

It appears that if anyone is to 'blame' for this accident it's the wrangler, and the direction in which he is pulling the bait directly towards the cage rather than obliquely across the cage.

    I agree 100%.

Feel sorry for the shark a little bit. Hope he didn't hurt himself or anything :)

  12. The peril of buying at Sal's Discount Shark cages... :D:unsure:

  13. Why did the video guy bail? He wasn't the one in front of the shark. And he forgot the first rule of filming - no matter what happens keep shooting. It was just a shark accident - it only wanted out of the cage. Just a little added excitement  Same thing happened to me a few years ago - some great footage.

  14. Why did the video guy bail?

Because that is what he was he would have been told to do in the safety briefing prior to entering the cage.
