I am rebuilding my system and I'll be using a Nikon 17-35mm behind a Sea&Sea fisheye dome port. Should I use a diopter with this lens? If so, which one provides the best results? ...+2, +4? I'd love to hear from anyone who has used this combination. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bentoni,
I have used the Hoya +2 diopter with very good results but I have not tried the +3 or +4 yet..

The +2, +3 and +4 will all work. +2 should work most of the time especially for wider scenes. For closer scenes, the +4 may be beneficial.

I was using a Hoya +2 & +4 and when I told Ryan I was using Hoya he told me I really should invest in a real dioper. I bought a B & W +2 from him for the 17-35 and he was proved absolutely correct, All diopters are not made equal. Anyone who doesn't believe me, I'll be happy to sell you a slightly used Hoya Diopter kit (+1, +2. +4) cheap, cheap, cheap!

hi all,
sorry to ask another thing,
so, if i use a macro lens (like 105mm VR Nikkor) should i use a diopter +4, and if i use a zoom lens, (like 16-85mm VR Nikkor) shoulf use diopter +2?
thank you
Rui
I have used a +3 and a +4 recently. You can see results from the +4 here:

... using the B+W...

I have heard all sorts of things about remarkable Canon close-up lenses, with achromatic doublets, but have always found B+W dioptres to be perfectly acceptable.
