Shrimp ID please ?

  1. This looks like some kind of emperor shrimp on a sea pen found in Monterey Breakwater (San Carlos Beach) California. It's about the size of 1/2 a toothpick in length and about the thickness of a toothpick, it's tiny, I wasn't able to see it well. I would normally think this is warm water stuff but sighting a shrimp on a sea pen in 54F/12C water seems pretty exciting especially in a pretty crowded spot. Today was quiet and calm and surely proof this place still worth diving especially when no body's around.

    Thank you !

  2. According to "Pacific Coast Crabs and Shrimps" (p.49, #84) by Gregory C. Jensen (1995, Sea Challengers), the most likely candidate is Slender Shrimp (Heptacarpus tenuissimus)
