what flash with a Canon 10D?

  1. What underwater flash (with modeling light) would work great with a Canon 10D… i am talking about great TTL performances… a flash that would follow if I adjust the aperture, ISO or shutter speed on my camera.

    Does someone have any suggestion?

  2. What housing are you using?

  3. Ikelite

  4. Do you have the origional Ikelite 10D housing or the newer TTL version. (The TTL version has a bunch of LED's on the back of the housing.)

If you have the TTL version of the housing, then you can use either the: Ikelite DS-50 or the Ikelite DS-125 will definitely work. The DS-51, DS-160, and DS-200 may work (these 3 strobes came out after the 10D housing)

If you have the older pre-TTL housing, then I'm sorry but there are no strobes that will work in TTL mode without modifying your housing, you will have to replace the bulkhead and/or wire a TTL converter in the housing.

If this is the housing you have, I would not bother, just learn to use the strobes in manual. The cost to modify the housing would likely exceed the value of the housing.

  5. Another option if you have a nonTTL housing would be to get an S6 bulkhead and hotshoe installed in your housing. Then you can buy the Heinrich's TTL converter cord and use it w/ Ikelite, Inon, or Sea and Sea strobes. Cost of the S6 converter and bulkhead/hotshoe could be quite high though.

    Cheers
