Nexus D300-M6 modified

7 posts
  1. Hi,

I had a chance to modify Nexus D300-M6 port to take D700

and it uses same mod kit I used to convert d200 housing to

    take d700.

As far as I can see, d200 & d300 housing has same front half

but, different back cover and d300 back cover has more room

    & easier to convert.

  2. This picture showing new back window attached

to back cover & new f-stop adjusting wheel.

Next picture shows difference of d200 vs. d300

back cover. d300 back cover has more room

+ wider top window. Nexus offers new back cover

    as factory upgrade.

  4. Doesn't the D200 Nexus housing front half take the slightly smaller port than the D300 housing? Do you know if the back window is the same on the two housing?

It seems like the Nexus D200 housing, if it can take your new back window, could swap back and forth between the 3 cameras (D200, D300 and D700) which would really be great if needed in an emergency.

I also notice on your photo of the front of the Nexus D300-M6 the lever seems to exist to change the M, S, C controls which isn't on my housing and wanted?

    Great work,

    Charles

    Hi,

    1.Yes, Nexus D200 housing has M5 port(they now have d200 with M6 port too) & is smaller than D300-M6.

If you are asking window on d200 & d300 is same, it is NOT the same as d300 has wider LCD screen but,

I use same back window to convert d200 or d300 to d700.

    2. It is true you can swap the windows & same housing can take d200,d300,d700 & FujiS5pro.

3.Yes, Nexus start puting CSM control on new d200 housing and it cannot be used on d300 & has to be

removed. d700 requires another different CSM & I am not using it. I am not sure you can buy CSM alone

    from Nexus.

  6. The front half of my new D300 housing has a "D200" decal. The back window says "D300". So I figure I have a modified D200. It has a CSM control which is working with the D300 installed. The port is the larger M6 but with adapter ring I still use the M5 ports from my D70 setup. Nexus does a good job of confusing us by changing controls from model to model (and also within the same model).

  7. Thanks for all the information. It does look like the Nexus housing is a rather adaptable one. Sam, I'm still interested in the adaption kit D200 (older M5 port) to D300 and maybe also for D700 sometime when you get the chance.
