Whoohoo! I got my first "first place" winners. I actually got two as the judges gave them the same score, so they were "tied" for first place. The category was "Macro":
and
I was up against some stiff competition with shots from Wakatobi and the Red Sea - but my shots from the Flowergardens trip pulled it off...lol.
Congratulations James!
I have a feeling you'll get quite a bit of mileage out of the blennie shot.

Congratulations!
I've been waiting 4 hours for the other half of the boxfish to down load...
The Yellow Fin Tuna shot came nowhere then
HAHAHAHA
Will I ever stop laughing on our trip?
Mental note...repeat after me...Never piss Bob off!
Congrats James. (Don't tell Bob you celebrated with a big tuna steak!)
Sashami and a good CALIFORNIA sauvignon blanc.
Cheers
James
Big Congrats, James. Was this a digital comp or prints?
Its important that the digital community enters digital images in print competitions to prove to the staunch film guys that digital shots are the money. I can't wait to be at an award ceremony and hear a photographer stand up in front of a load of Velvia addicts and say "I took this at F22 at 1/125th with a 105mm lens and, oh, and I took this on digital"!
Thanks Alex,
The photos are digitally projected for judging - so not a print contest.
I did however make some 8x10 glossy on the Fuji Frontier and they are stunning - you can't tell they are digital. What size prints are usually submitted for print photo contests?
FYI, I printed the 8x10's at Walgreens - they had a sale - $1.99 each!!!!!
Cheers
James Wiseman
Congratulations, James! Those shots would be winners in almost any competition.

Have you tried scanning the 8x10s into 100MB files? I'll bet they look even better.
sorry. I'll stop now.
congratulations, james.
So, if I understand this correctly, I could scan a 100mb file of James' shot, then print and rescan a couple dozen times, and end up with, like 1328933434 resolution????

James shot these using Fuji which is the best at greens. That's why he chose Walgreens. Ironic! I'm an idiot.
