Strobe Selection

  1. Morning,

Quite new to underwater photography, heck photography in general I suppose. I am shooting the Oly 560uz currently and need help in selecting my strobe setup... I have narrowed it down to one of the following three.

    Sea & Sea YS27

    Sea & Sea YS110

    Inon 2000s

I am planning on pairing whatever strobe I choose... I myself don't see much of a difference between all these options... Mainly a larger coverage on the 110 but not by much over the 2000s ... Any help would be very much helpful.

    Thanks ß

  2. Besides flash coverage angle you should also consider the guide number (intensity of the flash) and recycle time. The higher the guide number, the further you can be from your subject or conversely smaller the aperture you can use to gain more depth of field. The quicker recycle time will allow you to get a second shot before the fish swims away. I must warn you that under water photography is addictive!

    In my purely biased opinion:

Sea & Sea cheaper, Inon better!
