I took this during a recent trip to the Similans Islands off Phuket. Looking for comments on the overall composition (how to make the pipefish stand out) and the capture of the sunburst. Thanks for the help.

  2. Awesome image!

I can't really offer any advice on composition etc but you could try to dodge/burn the pipefish and that would help it stand out.

  3. Nice, harmonic picture. Maybe the sun could have been slightly higher relative to the pipefish.

  4. Just can't resist - try blurring the back ground!

  5. nice job Bighead, thanks for posting.

btw, it looks like a Flutemouth to me, not a pipefish, but I can't say for sure.

I think I would have shot it with the pipefish a little closer, landscape style, with the flutemouth angled upward. but it's hard to say without looking through the viewfinder. Maybe at F10 or F11 to darken the background a little more.

  6. Thxs for the comments ... I wld have like the sunburst to be a bit higher relative to the subject as well ... and what does it mean to blur the background ?
