Canon Housing Weights - Do I need them with a G9?

  1. Hi All,

I have just purchased a G9 and Canon housing. Im also looking to purchase a strobe as well (not sure which one yet so any recommendations?? - I would like an Inon 240 or 2000 but they are like gold dust in the UK and very epxensive). Im not sure if I need a set of weights that Canon sell for their housings with the G9? I used to have an ixus 850 and was told I didnt need any for that but wanted to check for the G9?

    Thanks a lot,

    Mark

The G9 in the Canon Housing with nothing else is positively buoyant ... the three standard weights make it almost exactly neutral, but I use it without the weights and don't find overly buoyant.

The G9 in the Canon Housing with arms and tray and strobes is likely somewhat negative - no need for weights there.

    HTH!

  3. Thats great,

Thanks for your reply. Ive just managed to get hold of an Inon z240 so all I need to do now is find a chance to get in the water again to test it out!

    thanks for your help,

    Mark
