I took my family for a first visit to Western Australia to spend Christmas with my sister in Perth. Naturally I took my camera along and made the opportunity to do some diving. The underwater terrain was quite unlike anything I've previously encountered with a water temp of 20C, not cold enough to be classified as temperate and not warm enough to be called tropical. There was an interesting mix of species of both fauna and flora. All of the diving was in less than 12m of water with the only exception being the wreck of the Swan, which was scuttled in 31m to form an artificial reef.
I have posted exactly one photo from each dive. I have tried to pick those photos which best portray the locale rather that just selecting the best images. Hopefully you will enjoy seeing something a little different. The places dived were:
1. The Marmion Marine Park outside Hillary's Boat Harbour (2 dives)
2. Rottnest Island (4 dives + 1 snorkel)
3. The Busselton Jetty (1 snorkel)
4. The Swan Wreck (4 dives)
I did not have time to visit the Abrolhos Islands and Ningaloo Reef in the NW, but am told that this is truly world class diving... Oh dear, I fear another trip will have to be planned in the future!
