Digital or Film ??

that was a bit of fun.. only a couple of questions...
Where is the tripod?
Was in shot neg or tranny?
What was it scanned on?
How is they couldn't get a neutral black out of the scan?
Where did they find somewhere to buy and process film in the first place?

-
And why ISO400 and where did the green tint come from on the film?

yes, i don't think they tried too hard!

It's marketing for Nikon's D700. Paid product placement. That's all it is. Terrible waste of materials for a stupid test.

I caught this on TV (saw it advertised first). Not sure that I'd use the printing company - I know people who could get superb results out of either film or digital! Either would have been acceptable on its own so the comparison was as much about workflow as anything else.
However, what I suggest people asks themselves is: how many photographers do you know who still shoot film? I don't even need one hand to answer this!

Well paul, there's the Chris Newbert film group... there's gotta be at least 10 there LOL.

I know OF people still using film, but nobody I actually know as such!
Having scanned a lot of trannies recently I am an even firmer advocate of digital!!!

My Flextight Precision II still does a very nice job, but no scans really compare to the cleanliness of files straight out of my 1ds mkiii or 5dii. And scanning is such a drag.
When I got my 1ds in 2004, I came to the same conclusions they have.. but at least my scans would have been the right colour....

Paul, I know more than 2 handfuls. And they would buy Eastman Kodak and Fujifilm if they had to to keep going.

I still buy (and shoot) film!!! And I am eager to get my hands on brand-new Kodak negative film Ektra!!!
In fact I am even considering buying a second film housing/camera (F100/NX-100Pro) now they are so cheap!!!
