Hi everyone! My buddies and I had the good fortune to be able to dive at Phil Foster Park in West Palm Beach on Sunday and Monday of this week. We enjoyed at least 60 ft. of vis and the usual great critter finds. I dove there with 3 other divers who had never been there before. All they kept on saying afterwards was, "That was amazing!" and "I can't wait to dive here again!" One of the rookie divers in the group found a Northern Stargazer under the east bridge!
Here's a few pics I'd like to share. I hope you enjoy! Robyn
The first one looks like it could have been shot in Lembeh. Great shots as always Robyn. I can't wait to join you there one day...
Thanks Ellen. PFP is sort of like a 'mini-Lembeh', sans the anemonefish and lionfish. (Well, the lionfish haven't shown up yet anyway!)
I can't wait to take you there one day and please remember to bring your muck stick and lots of memory for your camera!
Robyn
Great stuff! I always love diving the bridge when I'm in West Palm.

nice photos, sounds like a nice place. do you all do this as a beach dive or boat dive?
Scott
Fantastic! Looks like you found "Sprite" - the octo. He's been there for a couple of days now and he's very interactive. I just posted a similar photo a couple of days ago: http://wetpixel.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28177. If you hold out your finger he will reach out and grab you. I've got video of him latching onto my finger and pulling so hard he moved the whole Sprite can.
I love showing the little octos to people who have never had an octo latch on to them. The diver usually jumps back in fear with a little screaming (no where near as bone-chilling as 'Lemon Snaps', though) through the reg. They don't realize how strong those little guys can be; they have the pulling strength of a 5 year old kid at Toys'R'Us.

Thanks Scott. It's a very easy shore dive. The main thing is that you have to time your entry for approx. 20 - 30 minutes prior to high tide, as that's when the current goes slack for about an hour. Otherwise, the current by the bridge is extremely strong which makes diving there impractical and dangerous.
Please let me know if you'd like any more info. Robyn

Thanks for the info and the link Lazaro. I didn't realize that our little octo friend had already become a 'regular' at PFP!
I didn't try to touch him, but I did happen to notice how bold he seemed for such a tiny little guy. When I first approached him he retreated just a little, but I backed off until he came out again and then approached him again very slowly. The second time around he didn't even flinch and he was more than willing to hang out with me and give me several different poses.
I really hope I can find him there again this weekend! Robyn
