Western Digital RE2 GP drives users : firmware update

  1. I've been very happy about my WD RE2 GP drives as they use less power while functioning well as server drives. However some of the powersaving comes from the head unloading which is 8 seconds at factory default. Some software access harddrives at 10-15 seconds so it causes a lot of wear on the heads as a result. This firmware utility allows fixes this issue. You may see an increase in power consumption as a result. This only affects these models:

    WD1000FYPS-01ZKB0, WD7500AYPS-01ZKB0, WD7501AYPS-01ZKB0
