Data Mask.

  1. The data mask. I have seen but not used.

It seems OK, bit bulky and restricts some vision on the right side.

Just wondering what you guys think.

Vision to you guys is very important so thought you might have some good viewpoints on it.

Half interested in buying one, so any thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers.

  2. I got one a few months ago and really enjoy it.

I am writing a review of my experience with the Datamask and hope to make the review available shortly. I am just putting the finishing touches on the review and need to take a few pictures for illustrations.

I will update this thread with a link to the review as soon as it's ready.

  3. Cheers, should be good.

  4. I have used one fairly extensively during testing and find it very easy to use and does not seem to interfere with my shooting. As a matter of fact, having the data right there allows me to keep my eye on the viewfinder, and makes for one less piece of kit to leave on the dock. I am using a 45 degree finder, so cannot speak if that holds true for a straight eyepiece.

It is bulky and heavy above water but while diving I did not notice the added weight.

With all this said, I must disclose that I am working with Hollis (a division of Oceanic) on the Prism ll project. But, if I did not like the mask, I would have said so, nor did they give me one, or offer me a discount on one. Bugger!

Interesting! Would you care to elaborate on the Prism ll project?

  6. I've been reading about the data mask. What would interest me at the price we're talking about, is whether the mask itself actually can be fixed. I.e. if it's leaking, or needs a rubber replacement? Are there any spare parts?

Shelling out this kind of money for an article I switch over every year is not an easy decision.

Anybody has any experiences with wear yet?

    Cheers,

    Simon

Good point. Will be interesting to see if there is any feedback on this question. At around $1200AU, pretty costly replacement if the skirting is torn.
