  1. Hi all,

This is a series of an obliging Perch I took with my new 105mm VR a week or so ago.

    Water temp was 3 degrees!

As you can see, the visibility was special! I'm really enjoying using this lens as short telephoto, and I like the results! The AF on it is so much better than on the old 105mm

    Comments welcome

  2. Very, very nice! The bokeh is deliciously smooth. The first is my favorite with that nice touch of red on the side ...

Do you mind sharing how you use the Nikon AF system in such circumstances?

  3. Thank you Jeremy

I was using group AF with closest subject priority. With the 105mm, it tracks in so fast you can keep everything in focus.

I did use a focus light to help it.

    Best

Thanks, Adam. They did away with that focus mode in the newer models including the D700 (which I have).

I'm having a heck of a time with the auto-focus tracking modes ... I don't really understand the dynamic AF, but given the results I see others achieve with the D3 and D700, I know it is me and not the camera. :)

  5. Glad to see the 105mm VR working well. My port extensions are working really well, thanks Adam.

  6. No worries Alex-I guess we both owe Ryan one too! He was the one who clued me into it!

I have cropped one of the above pictures in tight, and quite like it!
