All pics taken with P&S G9 in Ike housing. Flash DS-160 and Ike wideangle lens.

P.S Sorry for adding my wife into so many pic's, but that was the condition when I bought the rig :)

  3. Woooowww !! Beautiful beggining !!

And definitivly the G9 is a great camera , I own one also !

And you use it fairly well

    Congratulations

  4. Beautiful collection, Karel.

You did really well on your 1st trip... Keep it up! :)

    Ed.

  5. A great collection of shots for the first time out with a camera, the G9 is great for macro. I particularly like the blue spotted ray and Morey together, good capture.

  6. Whoo Hoo! Congrats Karel on a great trip. The silhouette of the Dugong on your Flickr page is especially nice. You were able to get a bunch of shots with different techiques, very well done.

    Cheers, :)

    Steve

  7. Moose, that first image is great, a very moving image. thanks for posting, what an experience!

really nice compositions, it looks like you get down really low on most of those shots? (which is a good thing). you have a good eye.

photo #8 doesn't work for me as well as the others.

I think your wife really adds to all of the photos. too bad she wasn't a little higher (completely surrounded by water) in the 3rd photo.

  8. Very nice photos Karl. Amazing amount of light you got from that one strobe without overexposed areas.

Do you shoot this camera raw or jpeg. How do you find the focusing speed on the camera.

As well as the shutter lag?

Does the G9 and G10 has a button, like on slr camera, which one can press to focus the camera, instead of half pressing the shutter?

Do you use and optical cable to trigger the strobe?

Do you shoot in manual mode or one of the programed modes?

Any other G9G10 user please feel free to contribute.

    Thanks

  9. Hi Karl,

Great shots. I am anxiously awaiting my trip to Marsa Alam in June with my new G9, oem housing and Inon z240 - hopefully I will be able to get some shots on par with yours as ive not used this setup yet.

Where abouts did you stay - any recommendations/advice?

    Cheers,

    Mark

  10. Lovely results Karl. This little camera just gets better and better...

  11. Thanks alot for the nice comments :D

All the know how for takeing these shots I got right here from wetpixel - obtained in last 6 months. So as I have mentioned before - this forum is one of the best places to obtain theoretical knowledge!

Aqua-soul - I shoot only RAW's. Focusing speed is not a problem, but shutter lag is a bit of an issue with fast moving subjects like dolphins etc. Teaches You rapidly to wayt for the peack of the action  I use the "half press" method to prefocus. Strobe is trigged by manual controller and I shot only in manual mode and did not use TTL at all so the strobe was allso on manual. Somehow I liked to be in controll of everything :)

Marktol - I stayed in Marinas Lodge at Port Ghalib and dived with Emperor Divers. Can't recommend them enough. Alltough I have heared that Red Sea divers are allso very good.

And indeed G9 is an amazing little camera for beginners and I belive for pro's as well!

    Cheers
