I am looking for a digital camera for everyday use... I'm no expert, I've been looking around for some and I really like the canon powershot G9. Price isn't too bad either. I read a lot digital camerareviews on alaTest. So something with those characteristics is what I am looking for and I don't want to spend over 500 USD... Good quality picture, zoom, etc.... what do you guys thing... I don't care much about brands either, but I've mostly been researching canons. what about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50? or others similar? Please Suggest me if any.

G9 is defenetly a very good digital compact. Lots of us here in WP use it for underwater and as well as topside shooting.
You might can get one used for under 500 USD from e-bay or from wetpixel's classfieds (since G10 is now out).

I carry the G9 often for above water shooting due to its size/quality plus ability to shoot RAW with relaitvely fast cycle times. The trade show is coming up in a week or so and there maybe some other new things announced, just to keep in mind http://www.pmai.org/
