Genuine Canon NB-2LH Batteries

  1. Finally I've been forced to concede that replacement 'generic' batteries are just not as good as the Canon OEM's. I purchased 4 generics from two different China / Hong Kong suppliers and to start with they were fine. However in the cold of the UK winter, fully charged generics were dying on me after only 20 surface shots and recently, when my son and I were both using our G9's, he was getting through 3 generics to each of my OEMs.

If anyone has found a reliable and competitive supplier (in Japan?) I be grateful to learn more.

    Thanks in advance, Tim

That's the problem with generics, sometimes they work but no QC. The best bet is either from Ebay Australia or Ebay U.S. or some of the bigger Hong Kong shops that have them in stock. In the U.S. they go for about $35 U.S.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on Ebay Bill.

Very surprisingly I found what appear to be genuine OEMs on the UK Amazon site at less than £30.00 each which is a bargain considering they sell in the high street for more than £60.00! Even Yuzo Kanda's price topped this at 5,100 yen (about £33.00 plus shipping and, maybe, a hit for duty and VAT). But in fairness to him, the strong yen (133 / £1.00) has pushed his price up.

Whilst searching I came across this portal site for Asian camera stores which may be of interest.

It'll feel good to know I'll soon have a pocket full of top quality batteries...
