Is there vignetting when using G10 in macro mode for Patima housing?

  1. I'm not able to have the opportunity to try. But is there vignetting when using G10 in macro mode for Patima housing? Or do we have to zoom a little to avoid vignetting at the corners?

Any one with the setup to comment?

  2. I have a Patima G9 setup. There is full range and no vignetting with standard/macro port. The same is true when a 67mm wet diopter is added. With the wide port (shorter) attached the zoom capabilities cannot function due to a limit screw you attach. No vignetting is apparent in this mode either even with a 67mm wide angle converter screwed on. The G10 has a slightly wider angle lens so there may be an issue there. Seems I remember a thread about that.

  3. There is no vignetting at any zoom position in air or water with the Patima G10 housing and standard lens port.

  4. Thanks guys for the explanation on the macro part.

Ryan: Is there an issue on the wide angle using the Inon UWL-100 on the wide port on the Patima? Understand that you are selling the Seatool housing for G10 in Reef video and photo. How's the 15mm fisheye attachment performance in terms of vignetting? Is it free from vignetting when used in conjunction with the macro adapter and the 67mm Inon close up lens? Am considering the Patima and Seatool housings but there is no trying out where I come from.

  5. Hi guys this seems like a relevant thred for me too.

I am looking at getting the Patima G10 housing

putting two INON 2000 strobes on it and grabbing some INON wet lenses for macro and wide angle work.

What i want is maximum flexibility with good performance.

BEING A COMPLETE NUBIE: what i need is guru like advice before i shell out my hard earned monies.

    1. Will this be a a good system? Does anyone have anything like this and care to comment?

    2. Does optical TTL work with Patima?

    3. Which macro lense and how many?

    4. Which wide angle lense and what the hell is vignetting? It sounds like some sort of cheap red wine that students drink!

    Thanks in advance

  6. Ryan: Is there an issue on the wide angle using the Inon UWL-100 on the wide port on the Patima?

Inon UWL-100 on Patima's G10 does offer a very slight increase in coverage once zoomed out to eliminate vignetting, but the corners are quite soft and and the gain is minimal so I wouldn't recommend the combination.

Understand that you are selling the Seatool housing for G10 in Reef video and photo. How's the 15mm fisheye attachment performance in terms of vignetting?

There is no vignetting at all.

Is it free from vignetting when used in conjunction with the macro adapter and the 67mm Inon close up lens?

I'm assuming you mean the standard port & macro adapter. There is no vignetting at full telephoto where the macro lenses are designed to be used. Honestly, I've never checked it at full wide angle as there is no utility there.

    2. Does optical TTL work with Patima?

Yes, in P, Av, and Tv modes. There is no ttl in M exposure because the G10 camera doesn't meter flash in manual exposure mode.

    3. Which macro lense and how many?

I'd use a single Inon UCL-165 M67 for working around 1:1, and a Reefnet Subsee for working past 1:1.

    4. Which wide angle lense and what the hell is vignetting? It sounds like some sort of cheap red wine that students drink!

My opinion is that none offer good performance at present. Vignetting is dark corners:
