  1. Hi everyone,

Anybody had any experience with the Big Blue 1x5 LED Focus & Dive Light.

Would be using it with Nikon D2Xs and Subal ND2.

    Cheers

  3. OUPS! Sorry for the blank reply. Too quick on the trigger.

Just bought one and I'm leaving for Bonaire nest week. Will be able to comment after.

Very good! - first impressions....and where did you buy it?

  5. I ordered from seller in the US (I'm in Canada), can't remember the name. Could dig that out if somebody is interested.

The light looks and feel very high quality, sturdy. A bit on the heavy side to my liking, but I guess to a certain point it comes with this quality and aluminum body. I really like the magnetic switch and it looks like I'm not about to flood this one.

It has a wide diffuse beam with no hot spot. Again I haven't dove with it yet so this only in the air. It doesn't look to be extremely bright but should be perfect for focus light and enough to get you around in your dive while you cary photo rig.

The auto shut-off is also responding well to my strobe (DS-125) triggering it.

    Hi Michel,

How did you get on with it then?

  7. Hi

Back from Bonaire last night. I did use the Big Blue on one night dive only.

I would stick with my first impressions. I think this is the best thing by far in that price range, and even quite a bit more money. It is a bit heavy and not extremely bright (1X5LED) but a nice uniform beam that can also be used for macro without toasting any critter and still enough to get you around.

I mounted mine using the supplied 1" ball with a knucle and Ikelite ball that fits on a 1" track that I mounted under my Ikelite double arm tray.

Honestly I couldn't be more please with it.

  8. I used one Sat and really like it. I agree with the above comments and in it's price range it's very nice. Great build quality, magnetic switch, clip out battery holder, all metal construction. They do make a 3x5 light, but it's even bigger and heavier. But on an extra arm, it would work fine. It's bright enough to work as a video light.
