  1. im new to the forum so hello to u all

i am buying a sea and sea housing for my nikon d70 from one of the guys on the classified page and i need to get ports

the thing is the ports for the lens i have at the moment are very expensive and when i asked this question on scuba board:

    "d70 good camera?"

someone replied that if i had a 60mm lens or a wa angle lens then it would be worth my while but if i was to keep the zoom kit lens which is the 18mm-70mm i would be better off sticking with the e900 i have for the time being

the thing is with the price of the ports for the 18mm-70mm lens i already have, its a bit of a large investment for me at the moment so should i not bother getting the ports for the lens i have at the moment (18mm-70mm)and when i do have the extra few bob saved up then buy the ports for the new lens i decide on

    what do u think guys

and which other lens would u recommend if the zoom lens i have now is no good to me underwater

    thanks

  2. Hi Buleetu,

I have a Nexus housed Nikon D70S and anyone who suggests that you would be better off with with your old E900 P&S maybe needs to see

his/her doctor for some stronger medication. . . .IMHO. The Nikon 18-70mm zoom certainly hasn't "set the world on fire" and would not be a

lens of choice for my collection. However, the 17-70mm macro, zoom Sigma certainly has a group of devotees and turns out some very creditable results.

I tend to stick to prime lenses and have the Nikkor 105mm micro, 60mm micro and the 10.5mm fish-eye .

Keep your rig well maintained and you will have a reliable, and very capable rig for many years to come. . . . . IMHO.

    Bruce... :P
