  1. From San Miguel Island this weekend. This is a mosshead warbonnet. I'd never seen one before. With this image I have extended the known range of this fish by at least a mile.

  2. Very Cool! I have never seen one of these before.

I don't know if you are pro or anti PS work, but you might try to either blur or darken the background a bit to get some more separation as well.

    thanks for sharing!

  3. They are great!

I have seen them up in BC and am aiming for some pics of them next month.

  4. Thanks; I'm not anti PS. Just not that good at it. This was presented pretty much as is for the boat slide show. I will take another look at it before I try to print it. The book says their range is from Cuyler harbor on San Miguel Island to the Aleutians. I was a mile south of Cuyler harbor hence the extension of the known range of this fish. They are small. Four inches or so and twist their bodies around like an eels.

  5. We see them fairly often here in Puget Sound. They can get bigger, around 12-14".

I dove San Miguel a couple of years ago and was struck that it looked a lot like BC.

  6. Thanks; I'm not anti PS. Just not that good at it.

I can't use PS either, i just use Paint shop pro

PSP has some quick and easy to use photo enhancement tools for beginners.

I just used Auto color balance 5700K, Auto contrast enhancement to darker normal, clarify to 2, edge preserving smooth and sharpen to modify. It looks a bit colder but more contrasted, question of tastes...

    Cheers for the nice shot

  7. Very nice enhancement of a very nice photo to begin with!
