Talking iPods

  1. The new mini speaks to you, and even tells you what you are listening to and what is on your playlists.

Remember to put it on mute when it gets to the point that you have [place artist name here] that you really do not want others to know that you listen to...

  2. I thought all iPods talked. They quietly croon to their owners: "You are special. You belong to the elite technorati. Listen only to my soft curvy white buds, and ignore those feeble unplugged biologicals around you. You may smile smugly at them as you pass by them, cocooned in my narcotic noise. You are special ...."

And they do it over and over and over, until the user comes to not just expect but actually crave it, slavishly upgrading to newerfasterflashier iPod generations year after year, never realizing they are simply having their neural pathways preconditioned for easy acceptance of the future iBorg direct interface model.

    You have been warned.

    :bye:

Not sure if you have much to fear though, with Canon, Nikon, Sony etc. all competing for the same neural pathways, albeit through the optic nerves, I am not sure there will be a clear victory for the iBorg.

Please excuse me, I need to plug in my iPod into my IV drip now.....

  4. Sorry for the ignorance but what, if anything, is the iBorg (hybrid iPod and cyborg?)

seems the iPod is winning anyways

hard to get a 20+GB mp3 player now(a good one anyway)

have tried to program iPods and not for me

the iRivers are no longer available in the 20/40GB so ????

have an archos 605 which is great, but more of a video player

  5. Sorry for the ignorance but what, if anything, is the iBorg (hybrid iPod and cyborg?)

Sorry, just a joke. Borg from Star Trek, had those silly external optical/audio interfaces on them as they staggered around zombie-like assimilating everything. I was simply making the future "Borg" takeover an Apple marketing consequence. :turtle:

Not a star trek fan, but probably not far from the truth.

As I said its hard to get a good mp3 player now unless you like (which I dont) Ipods.

  7. Hearing reasonable rumors about the next generation Zune. Stayed out of that one so far as I've not been a huge fan of Microsoft hardware in the past, but if anyone has the $$ to go after the iBorg, it's still them. And they did release some really nice keyboards for home theater / living room computer type use.

Liked what I saw about the current (2nd) generation Zune, but for me a PMP isn't a high priority. When I'm travelling I usually prefer to read when not in the hotel room (e.g. out on the beach, boat deck, whatever) and in the hotel room I've always got the laptop for post-processing anyway, so just play music directly from it.
