Guys, I'm taking off for my honeymoon next week. I'll go to South Africa and Mauritius. Of course, I plan to cage dive with the great white in Cape Town, and do some more relaxing diving in Mauritius. I've never been there, so I need good tips (best if from locals) on which cage diving company to go for in Cape Town. Also, I'm staying at the Residence Resort in Mauritius. I know they have their own diving operation, but I don't know if they're good. Could someone tell me if they're are ok, since I plan to go with them (much easier than going with an operator from outside the hotel). Also, which dive sites should I look for over there?
If I could get a few answers by tomorrow would be great! The wedding is next Saturday! Thanks!!!
if you get no help. it has a few companies on there.
let us know how you go as I will be doing the same in 4-5 weeks

For Gansbaai ops, I recommend Brian Mcfarlane's Shark Cage Diving. Just note all the operations are a bit cattle car like nowadays. You get smaller boats in Mossel Bay. Gansbaai is 2.5-3 hours out from Capetown so you'll need to rent a car. For honeymoon accomodation, I strongly suggest 2 places: Farm 215 and FairHills Reserves. Both have great accomodations and have reserves in the backdrop. FairHills has gorgeous views of Fynbos and the Atlantic and a private beach. Only thing is they don't usually have dining services but you can try prearrange it. With Farm 215, that's a sustainable reserve with organic food. Both have decent game without really dangerous wildlife, which means it's very relaxed. Both these places are about 20-25km from Gansbaai but well worth the drive.
If you want some fun in Capetown, try the African Cafe. They serve african food while dancers do their thing. If you feel adventurous, go to le quartier Francais in Stellenbosch for the best haute cuisine in Africa. The hotel is nice too.
Happy honeymoon.
Hi, congratulations on your forthcoming wedding - hope all goes well.
I am not from Mauritius, but did holiday there last year. Did a bit of reading up before I went, and pretty much discovered that the top dive sites are spread all over the place. So every coast has a top site ! I believe where you are staying is on the East coast, which has different characteristics and weather than the West (as does North and South), mainly due to a ridge of high mountain in the middle of the island. If you want to do a quick bit of reading you could check out this link http://www.mysterra.org/webmag/mauritius/diving.html Its a nice relaxing place, I'm sure you will have a great time.

Hi,
I was in Mauritius a few months ago, my two favourite dives were:
La Cathedral - close to the town Flic-en-Flac (beautiful caves and photography potential)
Passe de St Jaques - south near Le Morne (great current - shark dive)
Hope you have a great time
Guys, thank you so much for the help! I'm so happy I posted this forum, was very valuable to me. When I get back, I'll let you know my thoughts on each place and hopefully share some great pics with you!
