Technical book on housed SLRs

  1. Hi

Ive had a fair amount of experience with DSLRs (Canon) on land and film UW photography (Nikonos RS) but none with UW housed DSLRs. Any suggestions for a good technical book on SLR housing (e.,g rules for using a diopter and dome port choice with WA zooms).

  2. I've personally never heard of such a thing.

You should have a good look at the housing manufacturers websites, I know for a fact Ikelite has a huge list of camera/lens/port combinations and also if a dioptre is needed.

This site :) will have to serve as your 'book'!

  4. This book, although very old now, is probably closest to your needs:

Not even an inkling of digital in there, but plenty in housed SLRs.

  5. The cover pic is great Alex and worth the cost on it's own!

The horseshoe buoyancy system ( with direct feed flapping in the current ) and the round mask - wow that brings back memories of my training days......

The only concern is the Jet fins - I still have mine :)

  6. Couet and Green is far better for Nikonos. The housing 'market survey' though, is interesting, as they show housings not common in the US - like those made by Aquamarin. :D
