I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue

  1. As the name suggests I do not have the slightest idea what this is....

The picture was taken at the weekend, at the end of a dive under a pier. As the other divers and I came up we noticed thousands of tiny jelly fish, tiny little bell style with long tenticles that gave quite a zing, but not so much as to send a diver into flight. Then we spotted this little purple thing 'buzzing' around. It ws about the size of a bumble bee, and it 'flew' through the water with little wing like appendages at the 'front' of its body.

I managed to get one reasonable still and a couple of seconds video before it 'flew' off. Would like to know if this is a juvenile of something else, or as big as it gets.

Never seen anything like it before.

The depth was around 15ft give or take.

    Purple critter

Not so good video of critter in action

    Thanks!

  2. Pteropod, probably.

  3. Thanks Alex - did a little research and you are quite right!

Funny little creatures - I will spend more time looking in to the blue from now on!
