Seeking ideas how to connect tripod to housing

2 posts
  1. Anyone have any ideas on what hardware to use to connect a tripod to my video housing?

Specifically: I have a Gates housing, which already has a plate on the bottom, and that plate has a female 1/4-20 threaded hole.

I intend to purchase a Gorilla Pod Focus, or perhaps some other tripod, which will have a 1/4-20 male thread.

Instead of screwing the tripod directly to the housing, I desire the ability to easily attach or detach the tripod from the housing when underwater, with one gloved hand.

I'm thinking I need something like a Dovetail adaptor, or Sea and Sea adapter, etc.. Trying to avoid buying a separate tripod head that has a disconnect plate.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

  2. We use a small Gorilla Pod on our Gates HC7 housing. It comes with slide on/off attachment but it might be hard to use with dry or thick gloves. You can just "pop" off the link and snap it back in. We typically don't take it off underwater, you can just push it flat to the bottom of the housing.
