Hey Dave,
Don't know if it's real or not but reading all the comments on that page make me very glad I spend my spare time on Wetpixel instead of with those characters.

So it turned out to be true. I am surprised, I had thought that this was a hoax:

wonder how it will compare to the tokina 11-16 ?
DP review gives me the impression it is not as good as the nikon 12-24.

Having a short close focus distance of 24 cm by the 30 cm of the 12-24 means that the new lens will probably perform better behind a dome.

I agree. Remember DP review seldom test lenses behind a dome port and shoot under water. 0.24 cm CFD sounds promising.

And the MTF charts are comparable to the 14-24/2.8.
I think we are talking about a VERY good lens...

Bummer, I just bought the tokina 11-16 last week.

Maximum reproduction ratio: 0.2x
Does that meant that this lens does a 1:5 magnification?

Yep but it is definitely not a macro lens...

If I'm reading Nikon correctly that gives it the same mag. as the 17-55, but better than the 12-24 or the 14-24.

At these WA or Extreme WA lenses these numbers don't really mean better or worse.
You should get a better idea by looking at min. focus distance and coverage (angle).
These two are the ones who will define how much you can play with the perspective.
