It is scheduled to be available in May.

  7. Thanks Yoko for the info,

It's weird... no window for top screen!!

I hope this is just prototype.

Have you seen more new housings for the 5DMkII?

I've heard that Inon had a housing for the Canon 40/50D?

    Thanks

    Jordi

The new INON x-2(for 40D/50D) body is not machined but casted.

It is lighter than prior x-2 both of in water and on land. It is scheduled

to go on sale this summer.

BTW, Did you mention that you are interrested the INON Ultra compact

    semi-fisheye relay system lens?

    Yoko

  9. Thank you Yoko!!!

That's exactely the news i was waiting for as i want to upgrade from my X2 for 30D to the 50D! But i did not want change manufacturer, as the inon housing offers the perfect ergonomics, optical ttl and buttons to pop out AND back in the strobe. i was about to give up and looked already at other housing. your post came just in time :P hopefully the housing will be out in summer.

Do you by any chance remeber if the new X2 housing has button(s) for the cursor?

    thanks for infos,

    serge

  10. Thanks Yoko. Any news on new housings for the D90?

    Cheers,

    Tim

  11. Hi serge,

    Glad to be of service!

I am looking forward to seeing underwaterphoto is taken by you with the new x-2 for 50D.

    Hi Tim,

    >Any news on new housings for the D90?

Unfortunately, Sea&Sea, Seatool didn't display the housing for D90.

I heard rumor that both of them doesn't release the housing for D90.

  13. Awesome stuff as always Yoko!

Funny how they call that thing Ultra Compact! I would love to try that lens though! I wonder if there is any way to mount it on a Sea & Sea housing?

  14. I think the ultra compact comment might be sarcastic :-)

    Cheers

    James

  15. I think the ultra compact comment might be sarcastic :-)

Perhaps, if only it wasn't Inon's official name for the product :good:.

  16. I don't think the term is sarcastic, I think it refers to the size of the port element itself. The thinking clearly is that you can get that small snout closer than a large fisheye port.

I've been thinking about this design and it is clearly a small format fisheye lens with a magnifying relay lens behind it. The design gives you very small size and close focus but I suspect it will be like using a small digicam lens with a massive teleconverter. I'd worry about lens brightness and resolution (notice the 3 focusing lights, manual focus ring and 4 strobes?). DOF will be appropriate for the resolution and magnification it offers.

I think the same thing could be done with a 35mm Tokina macro (or 50mm for full frame) and adding an Inon UWL100 with dome. I bet that combination is brighter and images better but it is nowhere near as small. Just how do you get inch from a clownfish face and light it? I'm sure the 1" port helps.

I'm interested in this but I wonder if it's an addon to a standard Inon port with prime lens (and thus adaptable and system-agnostic) or if it is specific to the Inon port system and Canon body in the housing. At any rate, you'd have to like the look of close focus fisheye, and perhaps softness, to want this.

  17. Well other people have adapted this lens and endoscopes for the same purpose.
