Shooting with a C-8080

  1. Hey all,

I'm just wondering if anyone on here shoots with an Oylmpus C-8080 and the Oylmpus PT-023 housing? My girlfriend and I are flying out to dive fiji on Easter Sunday from Sydney.

Apon checking her housing last night (thurs) we found that the larger of the 2 rear seals has stretched and we cant get it to seat into the housing groove anymore. Well we can but not with greese on.

    My massive Question is.....

Does anyone in Sydney or the central or south coast use this housing and would be an absolute savior and sell, lend or help in anyway with this rear seal. I dont care how far I need to drive or pay, I just need to fix this problem before Sunday morning.

As today (friday) is a public Holiday and tmw is a weekend the shops are closed.. You guys are our only hope...

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Our 9 day dive trip depends on it.

    Peter.

    Hi

try to get the o-ring in to the groove then put som grease on it

and check the housing in a sink or pool if you can for leak

rember this you dont have to take out the o-ring after every dive

for inspection. let the o-ring stay in the groove and ckeck it if the

o-ring is clean from sand dirt hair

hope this hint going to help

    regards kent

  3. Also, sometimes the wrong grease can make the oring expand and not want to sit into the groove. So it is important to use the type the Manufacturer suggests.

  4. WHile we all recognize the stress your situation is causing you just before your trip, please do not post the same posting on multiple categories. Members will see the post when they select view new posts and if relevant will respond to you. This option shows all new posts since they last reveiwed them.

  5. if there are any underwater camera shops in sydney, try calling them. I think what you are calling a "seal" is an o-ring.

this has happened to me before, it can be very frustrating trying to get in back in.

the problem is, when you have a little grease on it, the area that "pops up" will just keep moving around.

    instead, try the following:

instead of trying to "push it in" only in 1 spot, place it in so the o-ring comes out of the groove "pops out" a little bit in 2 different opposite areas. then try to push each down at the same time. you should have better luck with this method.

    hope this helps

  6. Hey all

    Thanks for the info.

Just got back from the trip, which was amazing.. didn't get the O-Rings replaced before leaving home, so it was quite stressful sitting in the room for an hour each morning working the seal into the grove. Around and around and around it went. Grrrrrrrrrrrr Its making me mad just thinking about it.

We got the camera down for the first 2 days then it leaked on the last dive of the second day. so that was it. It got left behind for the following days. much to my now happily engaged girls frustration. I think the new ring on her finger kept her mind off it a little though.
