At Craig's suggestion, I managed to convince my company that they needed to buy me a Dell M4400 :-)
In summary, it's fantastic!!! The display is 1920x1200 and is just beautiful. I calibrated the display without problems.
The machine comes w/ a PC card slot for a Cardbus CF card adapter, and also comes w/ built-in SD card reader. If you have an external HD with eSATA connection, the laptop also has an external eSATA port.
The DVD drive can be replaced with an additional 2.5" hard drive - I'm waiting to order one of the new 500gig 7200rpm drives. So I wouldn't be afraid to order the machine w/ an SSD as the primary and go w/ a second disk for big storage needs.
Cheers

Supports 8GB of memory and has a quad-core 2.53 GHz option too.
"You had me at '100% adobe' .."
My next laptop will definitely be one of these new wide-gamut jobbers.
The most I could get the company to pony up for is the 2.93 dual core and 4 gigs of RAM (Since I'm using XP). The quad core processor added a $760 to the cost.
Cheers

Yeah, I guess you need 100% Adobe RGB for those oil platform shots, eh?
You've got that right Eric :-) Basically I let the BD and executive folks know that if they want to keep using my photos in their BD materials and tradeshows that they need to reciprocate. And asking them to buy me a camera already got shot down :-P
And just for good measure I made sure the machine came loaded w/ CS4 and LR2.3 - can you believe it, I actually "own" a copy finally!
